Candy buffets and dessert tables are such a cute addition to the traditional wedding cake. This is a way to incorporate favors for guests and display them in a fun and interactive way (much more fun than handing the guests a bag of jordan almonds).
Find affordable containers. Try to use different sized apothecary jars and mason jars. You can even find different sized glass cylinders at The Dollar Store! Try looking at places like the Christmas Tree Shop and Walmart. You might even want to ask some friends if they have any jars laying around.
Another option is to rent- some websites rent entire tables of glassware for $40!
When choosing your containers, remember that size matters. Stick to small and medium sized containers and place them on different levels, using boxes or books underneath a table cloth. This will create the illusion of a fuller table.
Create fillers on the table, but remember not to "junk it up". Use different sized candles and place them between the jars of candy. Framed engagement pictures, or pictures of your parent's, grandparent's wedding adds a sweet and personal touch.

Allow your guests to take some goodies home!
Don't forget your scoops, tongs, and bags!
I've seen so many adorable antique bureaus used as displays for dessert tables. This one has the drawers open with kettle corn. Very cute.
Flowers in apothecary jars is a sweet and unexpected touch!
This is a great example of using height to create a fuller effect.
Monochromatic palettes can be striking and elegant. Most candy retailers will let you buy certain colors in bulk.
