Fabulous Invitations!

Wedding invitations are another great way to display the bride and groom's personalities. The invitations will also convey which kind of theme you are trying to set for the wedding. It is a good time to show off your wedding colors as well. Invitations are meant to tell the necessary facts about the upcoming ceremony and celebration following.

Emily Post has a great guide to proper "invitation etiquette", which can be found on her site. She also offers a beautiful line of customizable invites.

When it comes to invitations there are SO many options so it can be very overwhelming. The best idea is to browse vendors sites and find an aesthetic that you like. Most invitations are VERY customizable so you are able to pick a template and really make it your own. If you choose to do this keep in mind, choosing a vendor that is close by so you can work with them on a regular basis.  Also, ordering all of your wedding stationary at the same time will be more financially beneficial to you.

Here are some of my favorites!

San Francisco Soiree Wedding Invites via Caiti Did Designs on Etsy
This is a very cutesy design but it is very easy on the eyes and clean looking.

Winter Weddings

A Winter wedding is a great option especially if you are getting married on a budget. Most vendors have high demand in the spring/summer and are off-peak in the winter months.

It is important to choose colors and flowers carefully and accordingly. You dont want it to look shtick. I would suggest winter whites with metallics; antique gold, pewter, and copper. I love the look of stark white and ivory together. This is also a great time to do a black tie event.
You do not want it to look like this...
LOVE everything about this Monique Lhuillier "Addie" dress from the Spring 2011 line. It is a fit and flare style with a corset bodice. The bodice has chantilly lace under a sheer 3/4 sleeve. The details are gorgeous and you get the "winter" feel without being too literal.

As far as lighting it should be very natural and warm looking. Lots and lots of candles all over the place creates a very soft and beautiful look. Centerpieces with tall branches/sticks look great with tea lights and add some height to the tables. This is another very simple idea that looks gorgeous and if you have the time you could totally do them yourself.

Here is one way to feature red without being too holiday looking.

Amazing idea to hang balloons upside down. Before blowing up the balloons you throw a marble in to weigh it down! No helium needed...big money saver!

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! Hope everyone has a great weekend filled with friends and family. Feeling very thankful this year! xo

Navy and Bubblegum Pink

My next few posts will have ideas for wedding colors and themes. Picking out your wedding colors is huge and probably one of the most important parts. The colors set the tone for the entire wedding from flowers to bridesmaid dresses and centerpieces. You can pretty much make any color combination look nice at a wedding. I think it is best to stick to two main colors and then one accent color.

Navy and Bright Pink is one of my favorite combos. I think it looks very preppy and clean. Also navy is flattering on most girls so it would be easy to find a bridesmaid dress your girls will love.

DIY via Pinterest

Okay so I literally have an obsession with Pinterest. Many of you know about it/are members but so many of my close friends dont know about it! It is one of the most amazing sites. I will be including lots of photos and blogs featured on Pinterest.

Pinterest provides many ideas to to create a DIY wedding which is great if you are on a budget. In my mind I feel like DIY used to mean cheap and cheesy. Now you can create and amazing wedding at a really affordable price.

These jars would look cute grouped together.. It is an easy DIY project and can be done in minutes! You can wrap rubber bands around the jars and spray paint them with any color! Find Mark Montano's tutorial here
I love how these jars look and feel maybe hung from a tree at an outdoor wedding. Mason jars are so cheap and you probably have some hanging around your house already. They can be used to put flowers  or tea lights in.

I am also really into very simple centerpieces. Throw some color fruit in a glass hurricane or apothecary jar. So easy to do and they are available at Home Goods or you can even get some smaller ones at the Dollar Store.

I love this bouquet via Bridal Buds. Just some fresh cut flowers and ribbon. You could add a little brooch or even earring to spice it up. This cost her a total of $8! Simple and beautiful.
Save the Date mix tapes! Such a fun, out-of-the-box idea! Templates and tutorial are found here on Brooklyn Bride

Welcome Everyone!!!

I never thought I would start a blog but after some advice from wedding planner, Danielle Popyk of Planning by Popyk I have taken the leap. I have always had an obsession with weddings and ultimately I would love to start my own wedding planning company. My blog will have lots of pictures and fun ideas for wedding ideas! Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy it!
