Dessert Tables & Candy Buffets

Candy buffets and dessert tables are such a cute addition to the traditional wedding cake. This is a way to incorporate favors for guests and display them in a fun and interactive way (much more fun than handing the guests a bag of jordan almonds).

Find affordable containers. Try to use different sized apothecary jars and mason jars. You can even find  different sized glass cylinders at The Dollar Store! Try looking at places like the Christmas Tree Shop and Walmart. You might even want to ask some friends if they have any jars laying around.

Another option is to rent- some websites rent entire tables of glassware for $40!

When choosing your containers, remember that size matters. Stick to small and medium sized containers and place them on different levels, using boxes or books underneath a table cloth. This will create the illusion of a fuller table.

Create fillers on the table, but remember not to "junk it up". Use different sized candles and place them between the jars of candy. Framed engagement pictures, or pictures of your parent's, grandparent's wedding adds a sweet and personal touch.

I've seen so many adorable antique bureaus used as displays for dessert tables. This one has the drawers open with kettle corn. Very cute.

Monochromatic palettes can be striking and elegant. Most candy retailers will let you buy certain colors in bulk.

Rest Your Dancing Feet...

Back in January I worked a wedding expo at the Seaport in Boston. Beantown Bride set up an adorable lounge with these awesome white split back sofas that were to die for!

Creating a lounge area at your reception makes it much more intimate. This is a great place for your guests to relax and take a break from dancing. It also feels very inviting!

NEWP Wedding Spectacular

I volunteered for the New England Wedding Professionals Wedding Spectacular this past Sunday and I had such a good time! I met some amazing, adorable, and excited brides (who all looked amazing in their Maggie Sottero dresses BTW). The florals were gorgeous, the gowns were amazing, the whole ambiance was reallly fun and exciting. Here are some pictures I took from the event but I have to apologize- I took my camera out and for some reason it wasn't turning on- so I had to use my iphone.

New York Fashion Week

With the conclusion of NY Fashion Week, I am feeling inspired by some pretty amazing clothing. Spring is on its way and its brining some of my favorite colors. Here is some color inspo that would fit perfectly into a late Winter/Spring wedding.

College Fashion

This punchy citron color is so cheery and can definitely play into some fun floral choices.
College Fashion
Tangerine is popping up all over the place after being named Pantone's color of the year. As well as being flattering on all skin types, it goes well with almost any color.
College Fashion
Coral has always been a fave but it can sometimes make you looked washed out- so this is one to be careful with. Look for corals with more orange tones that pop.
College Fashion
Kelly green is lately becoming one of my favorite colors for spring.
College Fashion
LOVE this mint green. I can easily see any of these colors brightening up a spring wedding.

What's your favorite color trend for the Spring??

Red, White, and...PINK

With Valentine's Day right around the corner, I thought it would be fitting to do a post on Cupid's colors. Lately we've been seeing lots of color-blocked frocks featuring this bright red and fuchsia.

We've been seeing lots of celebs sporting these fuchsia and poppy colored threads.

Try to avoid the Christmas-y red and go for a more cherry color
Monique Lhuillier

Love the way this red flower pops against the peach and white flowers

Wedding Chicks
When it comes to cakes try not to make them look too Valentine's day oriented... aka avoid hearts and too much fluff. It is best to keep it simple like this cake featured above with raspberries and a rustic looking frosting.

Love the simplicity of this ombre detailed cake

Pomtree

Love this Poms by Pomtree. They also make them in a cherry polka dot print as well as DOZENS of other colors/prints. These are adorable to hang from a tree at an outdoor ceremony.

This bright palette is very cheerful and can easily transition from summer to winter.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!
