Something Blue

All brides know the saying, "Something old, Something new, something borrowed, something blue". As for the colorful item, blue has been connected to weddings for centuries. In ancient Rome, brides wore blue to symbolize love, modesty, and fidelity. Before the late 19th century, blue was a popular color for wedding gowns. Today I am going to do an inspirational post on how to add a touch of BLUE to your special day. There are so many unique and fun ways to add a splash of blue...

Don a blue right-finger ring a la Kate Middleton.

Showing off a sky-hued shoe is so flirty and trendy right now. Brides are rocking bright blue stilettos underneath their elegant bright white gowns. They look adorable paired with a tea-length dress but also a fun surprise when they are hidden underneath your gown!

Getting your wedding date embroidered on the inside hem of your dress is a great way to personalize your dress. I have also heard of brides sewing a blue heart inside of their dress.

Daring brides may choose to opt out of the traditional white gown and wear a regal blue dress.
Monique Lhuillier
If you're a more traditional bride, than how about throwing on a bright blue hued dress for the reception? If your budget allows, this is a really fun way to switch up your look throughout the night! Monique Lhuillier's Fall 2012 line featured many tones of blues to brighten up any wedding.

Don't think you can rock a blue dress? How about having your dress lined with blue crinoline?

A floral sash is the perfect place to add a pop of color and add a waistline. These designs were found on Etsy and are all very affordable, yet they make a huge impact.

Sherbet Palette

Hi Everyone! In this cold, snowy weather I thought I'd feature a bright summer palette. What's more cheery than sherbet in the summer? These colors are sure to perk up your guests. Although you may think you can only use this palette for spring/summer weddings, it will totally warm up a winter wedding! These bright colors look great with bright whites and ivories so it can easily translate into a winter wedding.

Inspired By...

Many of you tuned into the Golden Globes last night to catch the amazing dresses and very funny Ricky Gervais. I couldn't help but notice how many ladies had amazing hair and make-up totally appropriate for a bride! When choosing how to do your hair and make-up for your big day it is important to look like yourself. An overall fresh look with a glow looks great. Here are my favorite looks of the night-

In Style
Charlize killed it last night.. She was my overall best dressed. Her make up and hair were phenomenal. I  love the Cartier diamond headband. Maybe if you're not big into jewelry on your wedding day- a headband would be a great alternative.

In Style
Kate Beckinsale looked amazing and sunkissed without looking orange.

In Style
Piper Perabo had an awesome updo. It was twisted and knotted which made for a cute hairstyle on the red carpet. This is great for brides who dont want to look "too made up". Messy updos are on trend now and work perfectly for a youthful bride.

In Style
Salma Hayek's make up was not overdone and her curls look gorgeous. In my opinion, I like updos better because they feel more special but if you can do some nice curls like this you will be golden.

What were your favorite looks of the evening?
